"Branded", by Go Pound Salt, was a three song EP released in 1996 as a 7-inch vinyl record.. The songs were recorded during the same session of Go Pound Salt's full length, self-titled album at Russian Hill Recording, San Francisco, CA.
A few copies of the 7-inch were given out to friends and family, but were forgotten over time. The remaining vinyl and master tapes were lost in a fire in 2018.
In 2022, we decided to rescue the songs off the original 2-inch tracking tapes, and recruited Matt Lynch of Mysterious Mammal Recording to make killer new mixes using a digital rip of the original vinyl as a guide.
Revealed in these new mixes are absolute killer performances, gut-punching, thought provoking lyrics and vocals by bassist, Kenny Nonymous.
Gravy Grave, Broken Homes, and VIscosity show a band pushing their musicianship and aggressiveness to the limit. We were pleased as punch to hear these songs again and are really proud to breathe new life into these songs we thought were lost forever. We hope you like them too.
Go Pound Salt was a pop/noise pop band from San Francisco that existed from ‘95-’97. Highlights include releasing a self-titled, full-length album, the aforementioned single, and we performed at the 1997 Noise Pop Festival. We played way too many ill-attended shows in SF and the Bay Area, including one trip up to Oregon, and even played a few local TV shows.
2017 saw the release of “The Lost Tapes”, a collection of 8 songs recorded, but never finished, that we also rescued from tapes and finally finished. “Branded” is Volume II of our “Lost Tapes” series.
